Sheridan Coomer
Systems Storytelling initiative manager
Sheridan joined CCL with the belief that language, in all forms, is one of the most powerful tools we have in the effort towards building a just world; one in which people feel deeply connected to themselves and the life around them. Her work aims to further health and social equity at the intersections of written and visual art, community healing, and the intentional imagining of systems that are inclusive, equitable, and joy-filled.
Previously, she served as a STAR Fellow with the United States Agency for International Development, where she contributed to localization and capacity building efforts to advance the global response to HIV/AIDS. While completing her graduate degree, she worked with the Institute on Inequalities in Global Health in collaboration with Open Society Foundations on the development of the Health and Human Rights Oral History Project.
Sheridan holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Southern California with a focus on gender and sexual and reproductive health. Her thesis discussed the public health, law, and human rights implications of limiting access to abortion care and gender affirming care in a post-Roe America.
Through her own writing and storytelling practice, Sheridan uses language as a medium to connect and unveil. She is a published essayist with work covering personal essay, cultural and political commentary, poetry, and social philosophy.
